OUR HISTORY

Created by the community for the community in 2005, Capital City Food Bank originally located at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in downtown Sacramento. In 2008, the food bank moved to 1322 27th Street.

On October 21, 2010, one of a string of arson fires destroyed the 27th Street building. Despite losing our home and everything in it, the food bank continued to serve. With community support and temporary access to retail space provided by Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Capital City Food Bank operated while raising enough funds to move into a new home located at our current location, in Sacramento.

For more than 20 years, Capital City Food Bank has been providing health and hope to our neighbors facing hunger. Our philosophy has and will always be that “No one should be hungry.”

Capital City Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) organization.
